Consultations

Studies show that the relationship with the therapist is the single most important factor for a successful therapy. It is important to feel safe and comfortable in order to be able to confide problems.

Initial Meeting

This is an opportunity for you to tell me about what brings you to therapy and about your hopes and expectations. It is also an opportunity to meet and consider together if therapy would be helpful and if it is something you would like to do. Typically an initial consultation will last for sixty minutes. At the end of the appointment I will share my understanding with you, and propose the therapeutic approach I believe to be an appropriate way forward. There will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions or express any concerns you may have.

Subsequent Sessions

If we agree to proceed with therapy, subsequent sessions will typically last for fifty minutes. It is usual to meet weekly, although there is flexibility around this and some clients prefer to meet every two weeks. Appointments will be arranged in advance.

Fees

My fees are £95 for the initial meeting and subsequent sessions but after the initial meeting session fees can vary between £80 and £115 depending on the location and type of work we decide on together.

Concessionary prices are available on a limited basis for students, trainee therapists and lower-income earners/unemployed.

Payments are made at the end of each session either by cash or cheque payable to Dr W Edwards or by BACs in advance.

Cancellations

Cancellations can be made with a minimum of 48 hours notice without charge. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice are charged at 50% of the standard fee to cover room booking and administration costs.

Attending an initial meeting does not commit you to ongoing therapy. Many people are unsure about starting therapy, and an initial meeting can help with making that decision. It will be your choice whether to book another appointment, or to take some time to consider whether I am the right therapist for you.
